These offenses typically involve penetration with serious aggravating circumstances, such as victims under 13 years old, use of a weapon, or an offender in a position of authority over the victim. Tier III registrants verify every three months and remain on the public registry for life. Tier assignment is set by the Michigan State Police based on the conviction record. It is not subject to modification by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
